As I write this I can’t believe you’re already 1 year old. It seems like only yesterday that we brought you home from the hospital. You’ve grown a lot in this first year, and I’m sure you’ll keep on growing just as fast in the year to come. Mommy and I can’t wait to throw your birthday party tomorrow.
Plasma light bulb could have bright future
Luxim Plasma Light Bulb Kicks Some Serious LED Butt : TreeHugger
Luxim has created a light bulb the size of a pill that can outshine and outlast conventional bulbs and with a fraction of the power usage. However, this bulb doesn’t work like any light source you’ve ever seen. the bulb itself has no wires and no filament. An RF amplifier surrounding the bulb generates an electric field so intense it turns gas and salts in the bulb into a high energy plasma that gives off light. A lot of light. Imagine something the size of a miniature Christmas tree bulb producing enough light to drive a video projector.
PBS program follows Natl Guard platoon
FRONTLINE: bad voodoo’s war | PBS
I happened to be looking through the TV listings last night and flipped to this program because I thought it might be interesting. For the next hour I was completely glued to the screen as I watched the raw reality of these men unfold. This isn’t an action packed recruitment video for the military. It’s a video diary made by the soldiers themselves. The video isn’t about the conflict itself, but rather the effect is has on the men and those close to them. For their sake, I hope this war is brought to a close very soon. To the men of Bad Voodoo: Thank you for everything you’ve done and are doing to serve our country. We owe you and your families a debt that can never be fully repaid.
