Looney lady gets restraining order against Letterman

CNN.com – Letterman subject of restraining order – Dec 21, 2005

I saw this on CNN.com and couldn’t resist posting it. I learned all about an effect called hyperreality in my journalism classes, but this goes beyond that right into full-on delusional behavior. This chick aparently wrote a love note to Letterman and actually believes he’s been talking to her, in code, via his nightly broadcasts since then. (since 1994) I mean, I feel bad for her, but it really is funny. The fact that she even got the restraining order is amazing. (though it doesn’t say much for our legal system…)

No honour among theives

I was told once that Sony walked away from a deal with Microsoft because they percieved the company to be without honour. Perhaps it’s time for Sony to take a look in the mirror.

The blogosphere is teeming with lists of music not to buy inspired by the EFF’s article on Sony’s DRM. Mark Russinovich of SysInternals has posted a rebuttal of his earlier article by First 4 Internet, the company behind Sony’s new DRM technology. The buzz in the blogosphere on this topic helped to catch the attention of the mainstream media. In the last few days the discovery of several viruses that take advantage of the Sony rootkit, have raised awareness even further and caused antivirus firms to officially classify the Sony software as a rootkit.

New Site

Well, here it is. My new blog. There isn’t a whole lot here yet, but there will be soon. I’m slowly porting all the content from my old site over here.
I’ve been manually editing HTML for as long as I can remember. Because of the time it took to make the pages, I didn’t write as much. I’m trying out a new setup that will hopefully change all that. My new setup is the open-source WordPress package on top of a WIMP (Windows, IIS, MySQL, PHP) platform. It’s great because all you need to add an entry is a web browser. Well, back to porting the old pages….
