Wired News: Whistle-Blower Outs NSA Spy Room
Mark Klein, a former AT&T employee, has helped the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) in it’s lawsuit against the telecom giant. Considering the possible scope of the federal government’s eavesdropping program, I think it’s time to start using strong encryption everywhere possible. If what this guy says is true, I sure hope there will be some consequences for the Bush administration. More information on the progess of the lawsuit can be found here.
Wired News: Reasons to Love Open-Source DRM
I don’t know if I’d agree with the title of the above article. Perhaps “Reasons to hate DRM less” would be more accurate. I don’t see this taking off unless either Microsoft or Apple backs it, but it’s a neat idea.

This is quite a revolutionary idea. The new ARM996HS actually stops when there is no work to be done, which keeps it from drawing more than it’s minimum operating power. It’s also able to shutdown various sections of the CPU independantly as needed. This obviously isn’t something that’s going to power your next home computer, but it might show up in one of the next portable electronic gadgets, or your next car.
