Conservatives chipping away at constitution

While seemingly innocuous, today’s conservative majority vote in the Supreme Court represents the changing shift in the court and our nation. This decision will have little impact in and of itself, but it sets a dangerous precedent. It says we won’t punish government officials when they fail to follow the law to the letter. In this case, it made no difference. While I feel little sympathy for the accused, I have to wonder what effect this decision will have on future cases.

The document which I’ll mirror here goes into great detail about the history of the events in question. The implications of this document, if true, are pretty scary. If his claims are true, and they seem to be… AT&T and other major telecoms have been spying on us at the behest of the government since 2002.

Media finally picks up on spy case

After it’s attempts to kill the lawsuit against AT&T, the Bush administration now has to deal with a full assault from the mainstream media. Now that the bright light of public scrutiny has been fixed again on the administration, they’re all scrambling to deny any wrongdoing. I’m interested to see where this is going, but I’m not going to hold my breath on any meaningful consequences.
