I was in shock when I read this story this evening. According to a report leaked to the British media, Jean Charles de Menezes had already been subdued when he was shot to death by British Police. According to the report, which was generated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission, there was nothing suspicious about Menezes aside from the building he left. However, upon recieving “positive identification” from their superiors, the Police officers grabbed him and executed him on the spot. I keep telling myself that this couldn’t happen here, but you have to wonder.

The big picture
With little new information coming out on the role of Karl Rove in the Valerie Plame/Wilson leak, many reporters seem to be rehashing the same stories. However, a few insightful reporters are doing some critical analysis of information that’s come out over the last 4 years. One such article from the New York Times, presents a very well thought-out analysis of what reporter Frank Rich thinks is going on. I have to admit, I agree with him.
Here it comes..
Ken Mehlman, chair of the RNC, has issued his usual knee-jerk reaction to the Dems calls on the administration to sideline Rove. Considering the contradictions in what the administration said and the evidence of Mr. Rove’s involvement I’d say the Dems are showing a fair amount of restraint.
