No honour among theives

I was told once that Sony walked away from a deal with Microsoft because they percieved the company to be without honour. Perhaps it’s time for Sony to take a look in the mirror.

The blogosphere is teeming with lists of music not to buy inspired by the EFF’s article on Sony’s DRM. Mark Russinovich of SysInternals has posted a rebuttal of his earlier article by First 4 Internet, the company behind Sony’s new DRM technology. The buzz in the blogosphere on this topic helped to catch the attention of the mainstream media. In the last few days the discovery of several viruses that take advantage of the Sony rootkit, have raised awareness even further and caused antivirus firms to officially classify the Sony software as a rootkit.

Sun unveiled their latest CPU code-named Niagra today. The UltraSparc T1 boasts 8 processing cores and uses only 70 watts of energy. With each core supporting 4 threads, this CPU could not only smash it’s competition in raw performance, but should also cut down on energy costs in the server room. This will definitely be a product to watch.
